Aetherdrift was an extremely profitable set for our beloved Goblins, especially with the addition of four great creatures in Burnout Bashtronaut, Greasewrench Goblin, Draconautics Engineer, and Howlsquad Heavy. These are already seeing play in both Standard and Pioneer formats, leading Goblins to sporadic results in competitive Magic and paving the way for ever more diverse variations. However, I like to surprise you, and today I would rather not talk to you about either format, also because there is something else that has caught my attention and that was secretly released along with Aetherdrift. I say “secretly” because it's not a regular card present in the set but an addition in its Special Guests. I am talking about Chrome Mox!

Like many players, I enjoy playing busted strategies and “unfair games” and there's no better deck to achieve that than Orzhov SCAM in Timeless, and today, I will go over a deck that in just two days (with a bit of dedication) let me go from Bronze to Mythic in MTG Arena effortlessly. Let’s dive right into it. Orzhov SCAM Timeless Deck Overview

This September, the attention towards the Timeless format was higher than usual since, in addition to a Metagame Challenge, there was its first Qualifier Weekend on MTG Arena. Currently, the top tiers of the format seem to be three: Show and Tell, Mardu Energy, and Dimir Tempo, which coexist with each other, maintaining a rock-paper-scissors balance, despite the lines being thin and each of them having the right tools to beat its direct rival: Show and Tell is favored against Energy but disfavored against Dimir;

Timeless is a really wild format where the only limit in deckbuilding is represented by creativity. When it comes to creativity, the deck that we will analyze in this article is certainly very original as it combines two very different combo strategies. With the recent introduction of Modern Horizons 3 on MTG Arena we received many modal double-faced land cards that really helped to upgrade (already existing) strategies based on Goblin Charbelcher. Before the release of Outlaws of Thunder Junction one of the strongest and most oppressive decks of the format was Sultai Show and Tell, a combo deck that was able to end games potentially on turn two.

A comment I see echoed a lot about MTG Arena is that certain cards are unplayable because their typical support packages aren't available like, “It's a shame Nadu's unplayable because we don't have Shuko” or, “I'd play Crashing Footfalls but we don't have Shardless Agent.” While the majority of you probably realize this type of thinking is absurd, I wanted to address it because it's an approach I take especial issue with. Innovation and fun is found when we don't give ourselves arbitrary constraints and allow ourselves to experiment, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do with today's deck tech. Crashing Footfalls is a card that has seen plenty of meta play in Modern because of how it synergizes with cascade effects and it was recently responsible for getting Violent Outburst banned in the format. So how would we go about playing with Crashing Footfalls even though the good three-drop cascade enablers it traditionally uses aren't available on Arena?

Nadu, Winged Wisdom has been making a name for itself in a bunch of different formats with Legacy and Modern players comboing it with Shuko for some incredible turns that would make any Timmy Commander player salivate. Being able to throw lands from your deck into play untapped means you can go mana positive consistently with minimal effort while accessing more and more cards. So, I had to try it in Timeless. Honestly, as a fan of the game, I am concerned about the impacts Nadu will have for casual players, but Timeless is the format where the most broken and degenerate gameplans are allowed, so I'm here to test if we can make it work in my own way. What’s the Big Idea?

MH3 is fresh and new, and really seems to be shaking up the meta in the Modern Format. We are seeing different decks win challenges each day, and we haven't come to a consensus on the "best" deck yet. I was personally very excited to see that a mono black deck had already won one of the challenges. It is already well-known that scamming Grief is one of the most powerful things to do in modern, and this deck is able to do that, plus a lot more. It went 9-1 in the Modern Challenge on June 16th, taking 1st place. Today we will take a look at the deck itself, and see if we think it will hold up after the meta is settled. Also, you might be wondering, "when will the meta actually settle?" Well, we have a Pro Tour that both drafts MH3, and plays modern in the constructed portion of the event coming up next weekend. This should allow us to get a pretty good idea of what the best decks are, and what cards we need to use to deal with the meta. This deck is riding the wave of opting to use a ton of the MDFC lands so that it has extra cards to evoke with Grief. It is really useful, and makes sure that we can get value at all times, even if we are flooding. It also helps that a lot of the spells that have a land on the other side fit pretty well into the deck. This deck also has ways of generating extra mana, in addition to drawing tons of cards with the new Necrodominance Enchantment. This is supposed to be the fixed version of necropotence, so let's wait and see if this card gets banned too. I know that I'm waiting patiently for a ban before I spend any money on them. Why is this Deck? Self-mill strategies are kind of my jam, and when given an opportunity to abuse triggers that put a ton of power onto the board through the graveyard, you'd better believe I'm going to do it. This deck has been popular in Timeless and Historic for some time now since Prized Amalgam joined the client with Shadows Over Innistrad Remastered, but I decided now was the time to test it out because we Arena players got our hands on Buried Alive in Modern Horizons 3.
